An overview of my three official horses from National Model Painting Month 2017, 2018 and 2019 with progress footage showing how I created them.
Today's video blog is a short and sweet review of my model horse customs and my hobby adventures, as well as the one year anniversary of my YouTube channel and all the model horse customizing video tutorials I have created since last December.
I think it's amazing when top model horse artists share a view into their process, and even better when they make a tutorial. Rayvin Maddock is one of my favorite model horse sculptors because of her wonderful manes and tails, but she also made this great tutorial on sculpting a horse's neck, as demonstrated on her 2019 ICEE project horse.
NaMoPaiMo (National Model Painting Month) is the brainchild of Jennifer Buxton and probably one of the best things in the model horse hobby. Today’s video talks about what it is, the rules, and how to join. The blog article below talks about choosing your model, some painting options based on skill, and how to get your model ready for February.
Unfortunately for me, I don't always have the time to make every tutorial topic I want, or that you want. Fortuantly for both of us, some there are a few great tutorials already out there, like this mane and tail sculpting tutorial by DeeJayBe.

In this video, I review the pros and cons of Testors, Rustoleum, Microscale Industries and Golden Polymer Varnish. I also talk about how their features affect your model horse customs so you can choose the one that works best for you!
This short video reviews three brands of primers and shows you how they look on my own model horses, so you can pick the best for your next projects.
I'm not the only model horse customizer and painter making model horse customizing guides, and each week I will share one of my favorite tutorials from around the web. This week is a veining tutorial from DeeJayBee on YouTube.
