About Blue Mountain Stable

My Model Horse Customizing Studio

Why "Blue Mountain"?

Blue Mountain Stable is named after the wintery color of the local Rocky Mountains that have always been so near to my home. After many years of photographing mountains, it seemed a suitable and readily available brand image for the face of my equine studio.

For the Shelf and the Show Ring

My custom horses show within the North American Model Horse Showers Association (NAMHSA), the International Photo Show League (IPSL), and the Model Equine Photo Showers Association (MEPSA).  They have earned NAN and IPSL cards in both halter (breed & workmanship) and NAN cards in performance classes and have graced titles such as Overall Champion Custom (Springamathing 2016, against all scales; Candyland Live 2018), MEPSA Mini Workmanship Champion and assorted champions at International Photo Showers League shows.

From Bachelors of Fine Arts to Tiny Horses

My Background

My artistic passions have always influenced my model horses. I have a Bachelors of Fine Art degree with an emphasis in graphic arts, working as a full-time marketing and graphic designer.  My professional training included many courses in color theory, color mixing and classical approaches to drawing and painting. My art background is both varied and traditional and this allows me to create highly detailed equine minis in a variety of mixed media, especially hand-painted acrylic, oils, airbrushed acrylic, dry pigments, colored pencils, and more.

Sales and Commissions

New minis are often available for sale on the Model Horse Sales Pages, Facebook sale groups, my newsletter, or my social media outlets. At this time, I am currently NOT taking commissions.

Tutorials for Model Horse Lovers

Check the blog on this website often, as well as my YouTube channel for my free/public tutorials on customizing model horses! Join my Patreon for more specific tips and in-depth tutorials you won't find elsewhere!

Why Become a Patron on Patreon?

Patreon let's you support your favorite artists for small monthly donations that helps to cover the cost of art supplies, or in my case, also helps cover the costs of equipment to produce tutorials. In exchange, you get access to exclusive content. Did you love my two Ultimate Guide tutorials on YouTube? That was just a taste of the type of content I will now produce exclusively for Patreon. You will also get access to tips I will only share there, as well as advance notice of sales horses before my social media followers.

Even the smallest pledge is immensely appreciated, as it helps fund the supplies that let me keep creating model horses and tutorials. And if you can't pledge, remember that every social like, comment, shout-out and share is also immensely appreciated. My fan-base has been such a wonderful factor on my growth as an artist, and I hope to share that benefit with you all through more art and tutorials.
